Francine Lecoultre

Francine Lecoultre is a costume designer known for her work on screen, stage, world events, musicals and TV commercials.  She is also a multi media artist, and has created special textiles for movies and theatrical productions around the world.
Francine was born and raised in the French speaking Switzerland. She graduated in Art at the University of Bern, and received her diploma in Costume Design from the Advanced Program of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.

Lecoultre has created unique, specialized and luxurious textiles for feature films such as “The Mummy, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”, “Enchanted”, “The Cell”, “Star Trek Insurrection”, “Batman and Robin”.  Her latest projects include special textile creations for Mara Rooney and Daniel Craig in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, also “J.Edgar”, and the 2012 feature film “Total Recall”.

 Francine Lecoultre has designed costumes for many movies, including the realistic, story-telling costumes of the road movie: A Slipping DownLife”, starring Guy Pearce and Lili Taylor.  Her designs were praised in the sleek, polished look of “Shattered Image”, directed by Raul Ruiz, with cinematography by Robby Muller, starring Anne Parillaud and Billy Baldwin.  Her latest design projects include the popular TV Commercial Carl’s Jr – Miss Turkey.  The bikini and pleated dress worn by Gizem Memic involved the creation of specialty fabrics that were key in the story telling.

In 2002, Francine was commissioned to design 1,200 fantastical costumes for the Opening Ceremony of “EXPO.02”, The National Swiss Exhibition.  In 2004, she designed 250 Egyptians costumes for the Musical “The Ten Commandments”, starring Val Kilmer, and directed by Robert Iscove, for the Opening of the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
Lecoultre also designed the costumes for the Musical – Circus “Elements”, at the occasion of the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Performing Center for the Arts in Shenzhen, China.

Her creative flair, passion and skillful technique are reflected in the richness and high production value of her textile creations and costume designs.  An Impressive artist, Francine Lecoultre has received many awards, including a 2012 CDG Award nomination for Excellence inCostume Design for TV Commercial for the “Carl’s Jr – Miss Turkey” Campaign, and “The Lester Horton Dance Award” for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design for her work on “The Nutcracker”.
